How to save an Instagram photo
You save an Instagram photo to your phone with Download in the post menu when available, bookmark it inside Saved collections, or— for photos you posted— pull originals from Download your information. Saving someone else's photo depends on their download permission; when it's off, bookmark or screenshot are the honest options. Videozify doesn't download Instagram photos— only uploaded files and YouTube URLs.

Someone else's photo
When Download is enabled:
- Open post → ⋯ → Download (iOS) or Share → Save image (Android).
- Find in Photos/Gallery.
When Download is disabled:
- Bookmark (ribbon) → Profile → Saved.
- Screenshot + crop for camera roll reference.
- Ask the creator for the original— professional approach for portfolios.
Third-party "Instagram photo saver" sites risk account bans and phishing. We don't recommend them.
Your own Instagram photo (re-save to camera roll)
Common scenario: you posted from iPad, need the file on iPhone.
- Open your profile → tap the photo post.
- ⋯ → Download.
- Check camera roll.
Works on most personal and business accounts for your uploads. If missing, use data export below.
Bulk backup: all your Instagram photos
Photographers and creators should use Meta's export—not manual taps:
- Settings → Accounts Center → Your information and permissions.
- Download your information.
- Select Photos, format JSON or HTML, quality High.
- Submit request → email link (typically within 48 hours).
- Unzip on desktop— folders mirror your timeline.
A account with 800 posts might produce a 4–12 GB archive depending on video inclusion. Request photos only if you want a smaller ZIP.
Archive vs Saved vs Download
| Feature | What it stores | Camera roll? |
|---|---|---|
| Saved collections | Others' posts you bookmark | No |
| Archive | Your hidden posts | No (in-app) |
| Download button | Single image file | Yes |
| Data export | Your entire history | ZIP on computer |
Archive hides your post from profile without deleting— open Profile → menu → Archive to re-download if Download works on archived posts.
Restoring an archived post to your grid doesn't change file quality— re-download after restore if you need a fresh JPEG.
Carousel: save one photo from your post
- Open your carousel on profile.
- Swipe to the slide you need.
- ⋯ → Download saves visible slide only.
- Repeat per slide.
No multi-select export except data download.
After export: editing on desktop
Export and Download deliver JPEG. Open in Photos, Preview, or Lightroom for crops and color— no upload to third-party converters needed for basic edits. Videozify focuses on YouTube and video/audio files, not Instagram stills.
If you also save tutorial videos from YouTube (separate platform), our YouTube to MP3 converter handles those URLs— Instagram links still won't work there.
Troubleshooting
Download missing on own post — Try from web instagram.com logged in, or data export. Business Suite accounts occasionally differ.
Photo lower quality than remembered — Instagram compressed at upload. Export ZIP may include higher tier than re-download from feed.
Saved collection disappeared — Creator deleted post. Your bookmark goes with it.
Can't save edited photo separately — Instagram stores one published master. Edits are baked in.
Conclusion
Others' photos: Download or bookmark. Your photos: Download per post or bulk data export for real backups.
Need YouTube audio separate from Instagram? YouTube to MP3 handles YouTube links— not Instagram photo URLs.
