How to save a photo from Instagram
You save a photo from Instagram by tapping Download in the post menu when the creator enabled it— the file goes straight to your camera roll. When that option is missing, bookmark the post inside Instagram or take a cropped screenshot. One photo, one action; carousels need you on the correct slide first. Videozify doesn't download Instagram content— only files and YouTube links you bring separately.
Before you tap anything
Confirm you're on a single-photo post or the right carousel slide. Instagram saves the visible image only. Swipe first, download second.
Also check your storage: a few hundred JPEGs won't matter, but batch-saving dozens of inspiration photos adds up— each file is small (under 1 MB typically) but albums clutter search.
iPhone: save one photo to camera roll
- Open the Instagram app (update if you're more than a few months behind).
- Navigate to the photo post.
- Tap ⋯ at the top-right of the post (next to the username).
- Tap Download.
- Open Photos → verify the image in Recents.

Android: save one photo to gallery
- Open the post in Instagram.
- Tap Share (paper plane).
- Select Save photo, Download, or Save to device— whichever your build shows.
- Confirm in Google Photos or Gallery.
Path on disk is usually /Pictures/ or an Instagram-named album. File managers show exact paths if Photos search fails.
When Download isn't there
Creators disable saving for many reasons— art theft, recipe content, photography portfolios. Your options:

- Tap ribbon → find later under Profile → Saved.
- Works when Download is disabled.
- Post deleted by creator = gone from Saved too.
Use bookmarks for inspiration boards. Use Download for wallpapers or reference you need in other apps offline.
Screenshot workflow (60 seconds)
- Open photo full-screen in feed.
- Hide UI: tap once to dim chrome if possible (Stories-style full bleed is rare in feed).
- Capture screenshot.
- Photos → Edit → Crop to image edges.

Saving your own photo back to camera roll
Weird but common: you posted from another device and want the file locally.
- Open your post → ⋯ → Download (available on many own posts).
- Or pull from Archive / data export if Download fails.
Business accounts sometimes export via Meta Business Suite instead.
After saving a screen recording of a photo tutorial
Tutorial accounts sometimes post swipe-through photo tips as video. If you screen-recorded instead of saving JPEGs, you'll have an MP4. Trim the intro with our video trimmer once exported to Files— Videozify needs the file upload, not an Instagram link.
Troubleshooting
Download visible but nothing in Photos — Check Settings → Instagram → Photos → Full Access. Limited access blocks saves on iOS 17+.
Wrong slide saved — Carousel issue. Re-swipe and download again.
Photo looks zoomed — You downloaded a portrait crop Instagram applied at upload. Expected behavior.
Gray Download button — Temporary server glitch. Retry on Wi-Fi in an hour.
