How can I download images from Instagram
You download images from Instagram using the post's Download option when enabled, a bookmark for in-app access, or a screenshot when saving is disabled. Maximum quality is whatever Instagram stored after the creator uploaded— typically 1080 px wide JPEG, not the original camera file. "HD download" sites rarely beat the in-app Download button— they hit the same CDN endpoint until Meta changes signing.
Step-by-step: download an image on iPhone
- Open Instagram → navigate to the image post.
- Tap ⋯ (three dots) on the post header.
- Tap Download.
- Check Photos → Recents.
No Download? The creator disabled saving. Options: bookmark (ribbon icon), screenshot, or DM the creator.

- Open the post.

- Break without warning.

After download: video vs still
Downloaded images are JPEG. Edit locally in your photo app.
If you captured a carousel as a screen recording because downloads were disabled, you'll have an MP4 instead of separate JPEGs. Trim the clip with our video trimmer once exported— Videozify accepts uploads, not Instagram post links.
Troubleshooting
Downloaded image has wrong colors — Display P3 vs sRGB mismatch in some editors. Open in Photos or Chrome— usually fine.
Image cropped oddly — Instagram square/portrait crops are baked in. You get the posted crop, not the pre-edit file.
Can't find downloaded image — iOS: Photos → Library → Recents. Android: Files → Pictures.
Download option on web but not app — Rare sync bug. Log out/in or update the app.
