How to download a live Facebook video
You download a live Facebook video after the broadcast ends and Facebook publishes the replay—then use Save video, screen recording, or creator export tools. You generally cannot download a live stream mid-broadcast through official means; the stream is adaptive HLS, not a single downloadable file. If you hosted the live, Meta may keep a recording in Live Producer or your data export. Videozify does not accept Facebook Live URLs; once you have a local MP4, we can extract audio or compress the file.
Live vs replay: what you're actually downloading

Facebook Live replays often land on your timeline or Page as a regular video post once processing finishes. That's when standard save methods apply.
If you hosted the live: official creator paths
During setup (best):
- Before going live: Live Producer or Create → Live video.
- Enable Save replay to Page / Post to profile (wording varies).
- After ending, Facebook processes the file—720p or 1080p depending on stream settings.
After the live:
- Go to your Page or Profile → Videos.
- Find the live replay post.
- ⋯ → Download video if shown (more common on Pages and Creator Studio).
- Or Download your information → include Videos for account-wide export.
Meta Business Suite:
- business.facebook.com → Content.
- Filter Live videos.
- Open replay → download icon where available.
Creators retain the best access. Viewers depend on what the host allows.
If you're watching someone else's live replay
Method 1: Save video (when available)
- Open the finished live post (not the "was live" notification stub—the full replay).
- ⋯ → Save video.
- Menu → Saved → Saved videos.
Same limits as regular Facebook video—may stay in-app only.
Method 2: Screen record the replay
- Start replay playback full screen.
- Record with built-in screen recorder (iPhone Control Center, Android Quick Settings, Win+G on PC).
- Trim dead air at start/end.
A 45-minute live at 1080p screen capture can exceed 1 GB. Plug in power and use Wi-Fi.
Method 3: Ask the broadcaster
Churches, schools, and event pages often email a link to the file if you ask. Cleaner than a screen recording.
During a live broadcast (viewer)
No honest "paste URL and download" while it's live. Options:
- Screen record while watching (personal archive, quality varies)
- Don't use sites claiming real-time Facebook Live rip—they're scams or malware
Bandwidth note: recording + watching simultaneously stresses mobile data. A 30-minute live on LTE can burn 500 MB–1 GB before you even save the recording.
Why third-party live downloaders fail
Facebook Live URLs rotate tokens every few seconds. Downloader sites that worked on static MP4 posts break on live endpoints. You'll see:
- "Video unavailable"
- Endless loading spinner
- Login prompts (phishing)
Videozify doesn't parse Facebook Live links. We won't add a fake tool for it.

Troubleshooting live replays
Replay never appeared — Host disabled save replay, stream was too short, or copyright mute blocked archiving. Screen recording during live was your only shot.
Save video missing on replay — Host disabled saving. Screen record or request file.
Replay audio out of sync after screen record — Lower recording resolution or close background apps. Re-record from replay if needed.
Download your information missing a specific live — Processing delay. Request export again after 48 hours.
Live had copyrighted music — Facebook may mute or block the replay entirely. No download exists.
Legal and permission
Live events—concerts, sports, paid webinars—often prohibit recording. Facebook's Terms restrict unauthorized redistribution. Personal backup of a church stream you attended is different from re-uploading a paywalled fitness live. Know the context.
